The continuing debate of how clean the dishes should be when they enter the dishWASHER continues.

I remember when I was a kid and we used to clean the dishes with soapy water and then put them in the dishwasher to be cleaned. Even then I was smart enough to see the pointless effort to get EVERY. SINGLE. PARTICLE. of food off the plate and then autoclave the dishes in an expensive, wasteful amount of effort.

We’re having that discussion again.

I make sure that the larger chunks of food are off the plates and bowls (minus the smaller particles) by using a sponge and some water to “rinse/presoak” the stuff we eat off/with.

She likes to make sure the dishes are spotless in order for them to be autoclaved in hot water.

I’m going to buy a wire dish rack.
